Ethnocentricity:-
The belief that one’s ethnic/ cultural belief is superior to all others. In some cases individuals go to extreme measures to impede on people’s lives in order to enable their dominance to grow and try to influence others to agree with them.
Opinion
Everybody should be able to have their own views on aspects of life only if they are open-minded when it comes to discussions and that the respect and are tolerant towards other people’s views and beliefs on topics everybody should have the freedom to believe in what they like along as it doesn’t impede on the life of others.
Integration:-
In society is the focus on moving towards a society that it integrated and making peaceful, social relations with people who are completely different in order to work together as a whole community. By working together to move forward.
Most would say that integration is needed within society, because it enables us to evolve and better ourselves. When we integrate and mix with people who we wouldn’t usually be associated with, enables us to see that we have a lot in common, once you look past a person’s appearance , it’s nice to live in a city like Leicester because it is so diverse. We have a variety of different cultures and we all live and work together.
In my opinion we just need to just accept that we in life are going to come across things that we affect and challenge us, but we just need to embrace them and take them in our stride.
Tolerance:-
The ability or want to tolerate people’s opinions/behaviour that you dislike/disagree with.
Tolerance is part of the British values, therefore to be a British Citizen, we should follow them, even if things infuriate us, because, other people tolerate ours. “Treat others how you want to be treated” An example of tolerance would be people of the Christian faith tolerating those who have the belief of a Muslim. They may not have the exact same belief but they are tolerant because they both believe in God/s, so therefore because of this, they share things in common. This enables them to live and work peacefully within society.
I believe that's tolerance is needed within society for us to function together, tolerance is do-able and everybody is capable of doing it.
Multiculturalism:-
The integration and support towards the presence on many different ethnic and cultural groups within the same society.
Leicester is a clear example of multiculturalism, as we celebrate festivals like the Caribbean carnival together rather than it just being the Black community. Because everybody is welcome to participate and many do.
Multiculturalism affects the Public services because all different people from all different ethnic backgrounds join the British army to fight and defend for our country, the diversity that the Armed forces have, enables many more people from different cultures to want to join, because it is diverse rather than just a load of white British males. This makes the country have more of a united front.
Overall multiculturalism affects the Public services in a positive way, it enables them to have more recruitment's.
Rights and responsibilities:-
Rights = the ability to live and pursue your life and goals without the interference of other individual or by the government.
It is up to the individual to protect and know their right, so that in a case when they feel that they are not being treated rightfully then they can defend themselves in order to protect themselves and their identity.
I believe that rights are very important because if we didn't have them or anything similar, then it could lead to destruction on a mass destruction. For example a genocide or a world war. That is the reason why NATO was created in order to prevent World wars happening ever again.
This makes the police force harder in some cases, because they have to police legal protest against new government policies, in the chance that they could escalate and develop into a riot.
Equal opportunities:-
This is the right to be treated and able to access all job roles and things that affect everyday life, just as much as the opposite sex can. Whether it be on the grounds of race, religion or gender.
Equal opportunities are needed within society and we should aim to make society even more open for people to have opportunities in life.
This affects the Public services, especially the R.A.F. because they have given women the equal opportunity to fulfil any job role that they want to, with the right qualifications/skills. Therefore because the R.A.F. have done this puts pressure onto the army and other public services.
